Project Background

In November 2024, three types of construction robots (putty application robot, putty sanding robot and indoor spraying robot) together with an automatic material feeding system were deployed at the Public Housing Project, Site No.2, Area 4, Sheung Shui, Hong Kong.
All coating works across 10 floors were finished in just over one month. For the first time in Hong Kong, a construction model of 2 operators managing 3 robots to complete one full floor per day was achieved.
Representatives from relevant organisations including the Hong Kong Housing Authority, China State Construction Overseas, Shui On Construction, Hong Kong Painting Contractors Association, HKCA and HDAD visited the site for on-site inspections.
Ms Winnie Ho, Secretary for Housing of the Hong Kong Housing Bureau, paid an on-site visit on 27 November.
She inspected the quality and finish of Hong Kong’s first public housing coating project completed entirely by construction robots, and spoke highly of the construction quality and intelligent performance of the robotic equipment.

Advantage of Robotics

The working efficiency of the putty application robot is four times that of manual work. The finish quality delivered by the putty sanding robot meets the highest private residential standards in Hong Kong.
The precise overlapping spraying technique of the indoor spraying robot saves HK$24.4 in paint costs per household.

The material supply quality and automation level of the automatic feeding system have won high praise from clients.
